compostable pack
By Filton Packaging

Nature's packaging
is compostable.

Why should ours be any different?

Why use compostable packaging?

Compostable packaging addresses the challenges of plastic pollution. It offers a packaging alternative that perfectly mimics the positive properties of conventional plastic packaging but is designed with the planet in mind.

Our packaging is made from proprietary blends of fully compostable polymers that are both bio-based and fossil-based. They break down in compost just like your normal organic waste.

Biodegradable
vs compostable

The term ‘biodegradable’ represents a process, but not necessarily under what conditions or time frame. Biodegradable plastics simply break down into smaller micro-plastics which still contaminate the environment and the rate of decomposition can vary significantly.

If a material is compostable, it means that under composting conditions (heat, humidity, oxygen, & microorganisms) it will break down as if it was never there, and can also be safely eaten by worms. To be certified home compostable, a product must break down in home compost within 180 days and 90 days in commercial composting conditions. A compostable product is always preferable to a biodegradable product.

How to compost our packaging

When you’re finished with your home compostable packaging, place it in your home composter with other organic waste.

If you don’t have a home compost, there are other composting options available. Ask your local council if they provide a composting green bin service, or look for a communal composting or commercial composting site.

If you are in Australia, visit sharewaste.com to find a local home-composting enthusiast or visit aora.org.au to find a commercial composter near you.

After use, remove any
non-compostable stickers.

Place in home compost.

Packaging will
disintegrate over time.

When compost is ready,
use in your garden.

What not to do with
compostable packaging

Do not recycle

Please do not try to recycle compostable films or packaging, as they are not recyclable and will have to be removed from the recycling stream.

Do not discard

Our compostable packaging is not meant to be disposed of in land ecosystems or marine environments and should be disposed of in the proper waste stream where it will turn into compost.
